Generation Y, or the Millennial Generation has always sounded to me like some sort of mutated . The car that made its debut at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance was the first and last product from Los Angeles-based industrial design house Devon Motorworks. The car features Lambo-style doors and aircraft-quality carbon fiber body. Chassis number 1 is a chrome and black number, and it’s going to be auctioned off at the upcoming Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale, Arizona. It’s got no reserve on it, but we’ll remind you that the California supercar was priced at about $500,000 when new. read more

The other night, my friend and fellow autojournalist Sam Smith posted a link on Facebook to a photo of the late Paul Frère and Phil Hill from one of Road & Track ’s phenomenal supercar roundups of the 1980s. The photo featured a Porsche 959, a Ferrari Testarossa, a Lamborghini Countach, an Audi Sport Quattro and other hyperrare European machines, both tuner cars and factory specials. Perhaps coincidentally, 1991 was the last year of Chrysler TC by Maserati construction and just three years before Chrysler divested itself of Lamborghini, fobbing it off on a group of Indonesians before Audi rescued Ferruccio’s house with a plan to put a Gallardo in every elegantly paved driveway and a chicken in every pot.
